Helo,
Domas from GreenClub, Vilnius/Lithuania writing.
Today we've got a call from Ministry of Culture regarding copyrights of
Hungarian artist Tibor Szalkai, i.e. guitar/backing vox of Blind Myself.
That means they demand us to pay for your songs, performed at GreenClub,
but we've paid you already. It's the first case we face such a thing while
working with various artists, booking over 130 gigs.
GreenClub is a diy venue, everybody work on volunteer basis for free. All
money from gigs go to bands, equipment rent, food, some other expenses.
Hope you understand the matter and will take care not to involve us into
copyrights rip-off.
regards,

Dear Domas,
Greg from Blind Myself here.
Usually every venue pays royalty above the regular
money that you giving out to the bands. Actually,
we're getting support (money)from the Hungarian
Royalty Company (Artisjus)that makes a lot easier the
touring for us. The only thing that we have to do is
give them a list where we played on the tour.
The royalty goes to the authors. Our bass player and
our drummer quit the band earlier and they didn't play
with us anymore. But they wrote some of the songs that
we're playing everywhere. That's why they're getting
royaltys from Artisjus. That's the law.
I'll to get in touch with one of the lawyers what can
we do in this situation and to save your ass:)
I just wanted to tell you if you ever want to do a
club you have to pay royaltys and that's not a rip
off!!! I'm working for a booking agency in Hungary, we
worked with such famous acts like Madball, Meshuggah,
Clawfinger, Agnostic Front, Converge, BoySetsFire,
etc. and we always paid royalty!!!
I'll try to do my best
Gregory Toth
